A Christmas Carol
by Charles Dickens
Here's a lilting holiday show based on Charles Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol. The musical treatment makes this a particularly enjoyable new way of presenting the grand story of hard-hearted Ebenezer Scrooge, who hates Christmas and is visited successively by three ghosts: the ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Future. They bring revelations to Scrooge, mainly about himself, and he's shocked into action that centers about the poor but happy Cratchit family and their brave little crippled son, Tiny Tim.

PROJECT AMERICA
Book by John Anker Bow • Music: Traditional
Grades 4 to 8
The Project America cast invites audiences on a poignant journey through the national holidays the dot our country's calendar. Through an original compilation of story-telling, monologues and music, Project America carefully explains the significance and importance of these days. Memorable moments include a timeline of the American labor movement and the meaning behind Labor day, a musical reflection on the principles of racial equality and non-violent social change observed on Martin Luther King Jr's Birthday, a moving account of our nation's war heroes and heroines remembered on Veterans Day and Memorial Day and other sequences concerning Flag Day, Presidents' Day and Independence Day. Audiences will walk away from Project America with a new sense of pride, genuine respect, and an appreciation for the people who sacrificed so much to make our country great. This show is a must-see for educators seeking a powerful character education program. Project America approaches ethical values and moral leadership from the framework of what we all have in common: our bond as Americans.

LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD
Who is a Stranger?
Mrs. Ridinghood has to let her daughter, Little Red, venture into the wood alone sometime; so, when Granny gets sick, it seems to be the perfect opportunity! Little Red’s mother warns her, “Be careful of strangers, my dear - and be kind to those you trust.” Like all children, Little Red has to use her brains to figure out who is a stranger and who is not. During her journey to Granny’s, she comes in contact with the Butcher, the Baker, the Candlestick Maker and the Three Little Pigs - all of them a little strange, but certainly not strangers. When Little Red meets the Wolf, of course, it’s a whole different story. Tackling the topic of “strangers” is a difficult one. Surflight’s Little Red Ridinghood helps young audiences learn how to use good judgement when meeting strangers, while avoiding discrimination.
